CT-15-LP Snowmelter

The Trecan CT-15-LP is the ideal choice for property managers or snow contractors, who work with small ground level parking lots up to 60,000 sq ft in size, such as condominium and apartment building parking lots, cul-de-sacs, and strip mall parking lots. Because of its flexible specifications (trailer mounted, rear loading, snow start burner ), the CT-15-LP model can be towed up a ramp or helix and can be loaded with a skid steer loader. With a capacity of 15 tons of snow per hour, its 3.4 million BTU/hr burner can melt 37 to 74 cubic yards of snow with an average snow density of 15 to 30 lbs/cu. ft. per hour.

60-PD Snowmelter

The Trecan 60-PD has a capacity of melting 60 tons of snow per hour. Its 12 million BTU/hr burner can melt 150 to 300 cubic yards of snow with an average snow density of 15 to 30 lbs/cu. ft. per hour. The model 60-PD is the choice of many cities, municipalities, large snow contractors, universities and shopping malls. The melting tank is available in a narrow 8’6” width or a standard 10’ width. It can be loaded with a typical front end loader and towed with a dump truck or other heavy-duty truck.

80-PD Snowmelter

The Trecan 80-PD has a capacity of melting 80 tons of snow per hour, its 15 million BTU/hr burner can melt 200 to 400 cubic yards of snow with an average snow density of 15 to 30 lbs/cu. ft. per hour. The 80-PD model is a favorite choice of snow contractors, shopping centers and malls.
The adjoining photo shows a unit in operation in Quebec. The melt water can be discharged on either side, and in this case is discharged on the opposite side on the unit.

135-PD Snowmelter (replaced with 150-PD)

The Trecan 135-PD has a capacity of melting 135 tons of snow per hour. Its two 12 million BTU/hr burners (24 million BTU/hr) can melt 334 to 675 cubic yards of snow with an average snow density of 15 to 30 lbs/cu. ft. per hour. The model 135-PD is a side loading Snowmelter and the choice of many airports, municipalities and snow contractors.

Dual side loading

Dual (two) Side Loading is a standard feature on the 250-PD, 350-PD and 500-PD Snowmelters and is an option on the 135PD models.

It allows for loading of the melting tank on either side of the machine and offers more flexibility when positioning the machine prior to melting operations.

150-PD Snowmelter (available Q3-2024)

The Trecan 150-PD has a design capacity of melting 150 tons of snow per hour. Its two 13.3 million BTU/hr burners (26.6 million BTU/hr) can melt 370 to 740 cubic yards of snow with an average snow density of 15 to 30 lbs/cu. ft. per hour. The model 150-PD is a dual side loading Snowmelter and will look identical to the 135-PD with the same dimensions and features and options.

180-PD Snowmelter

The Trecan 180-PD has a capacity of melting 180 tons of snow per hour. Its two 16 million BTU/hr burners (32 million BTU/hr) can melt 444 to 888 cubic yards of snow with an average snow density of 15 to 30 lbs/cu. ft. per hour. The model 180-PD is a left side loading Snowmelter and is designed for use at airports, parking lots and snow dumps.

250-PD Snowmelter

The Trecan 250-PD has a capacity of melting 250 tons of snow per hour. Its combined heat input of 42,000,000 BTU/hr can melt 617 to 1234 cubic yards of snow with an average snow density of 15 to 30 lbs/cu. ft. per hour. The model 250-PD is a dual side loading Snowmelter and is designed for use at airports, large parking lots and city snow dumps.

350-PD Snowmelter

The Trecan 350-PD has a capacity of melting 350 tons of snow per hour. Its combined heat input of 56,700,000 BTU/hr can melt 864 to 1728 cubic yards of snow with an average snow density of 15 to 30 lbs/cu. ft. per hour. The model 350-PD is a dual side loading Snowmelter and is designed for use at large airports and large city snow dumps.

500-PD Snowmelter

The Trecan 500-PD has a capacity of melting 500 tons of snow per hour. Its six Trecan 13.3 million BTU/hr burners (80 million BTU/hr) can melt 1,234 to 2,469 cubic yards of snow with an average snow density of 15 to 30 lbs/cu. ft. per hour. The model 500-PD is a dual side loading Snowmelter and is designed for use at large airports and large city snow dumps.

Special Options

Snowstart

Standard Trecan Snowmelters require the addition of water to the melting tank prior to beginning melting operations. The snow start option allows the operator to load several buckets of snow into the melting tank instead, then enable the snow start system and generate enough water required for normal snow melting operations. Snow start is a very desirable option if access to water is limited or simply not convenient. This feature is standard on the CT-15-LP and is optional on the larger Snowmelters.

Aviation Fuel Compatibility

Because of availability and costs, being able to operate the Snowmelter on Aviation Fuel is considered a desirable option by some commercial and military Airports.
